If you held me at gunpoint and told me I had to come up with a mission statement for what it is that I want to achieve with my writing, I’d probably have to say something along the lines of: “Be successful enough to keep on doing it.”
If you waved the gun about a bit and asked me what’s the nicest thing a reader could say about my writing, I’d almost certainly plump for, “I couldn’t put it down.”
The Bycatch Principle is a speculative young adult thriller about a boy, David Jessop, who is locked up for a crime he has yet to commit. After six years in captivity he escapes, but can he remain free long enough to work out who he is and what he’s capable of? The race to the truth is on.
This fast-paced thriller explores themes of labelling, identity and family relationships, and is partly set in Cornwall, where David benefits from the healing powers of the ocean as he struggles to find his place in the world. The Bycatch Principle was released in paperback and eBook form in 2023, and is published by Hermitage Press.
